About the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks
The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks Nature Reserve is one of the most popular natural attractions in the Czech Republic. This massive rock labyrinth is located in the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area. The whole area is filled with thousands of rock towers, narrow gorges, and unique formations shaped by erosion over millions of years. Both parks are made easily accessible thanks to wooden boardwalks, paths, rails and stairs.
The area is actually divided into two separate parks: Adršpach and Teplice, connected by the Wolf Gorge (yellow route). Adršpach, or Adršpašské skály, is the more popular and dramatic part, with highlights like the famous gothic gate, a turquoise lake, a waterfall, and famous rock formations such as “The Lovers” and “Mayor and Mayoress.” Teplice, or Teplické skály, is quieter and less crowded, but its rock formations are just as impressive.
If you only have time for one, Adršpach is the better choice. But if you have a full day and don’t mind a longer hike, you can explore both parks and walk through the gorge that connects them. While your entrance ticket is only valid for the entrance gate of the park where you purchased it, it also allows you to explore the entire area if you pass through the Wolf Gorge.
Trails at the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks
Green Route (Adršpach)
The green route is the main route through the Adršpach Rocks. This trail is 3,5 km long and is marked with a green sign. It has a few steep stairs and some downhill sections, but nothing too challenging. wearing sturdy shoes is a good idea since it can get slippery. Plan for about 3 hours to complete the hike, including plenty of stops for photos along the way. You find more information about the highlights along this trail on the official website.
About halfway through the main loop, you’ll come across the Rocky Lake, where you can hop on a boat ride and see the rock formations from a different perspective.

Yellow Route (Adršpach-Teplice)
The yellow trail (Vlčí rokle) in the Adršpach-Teplice Nature Reserve is the scenic trail that connects the two rock towns through the Wolf Gorge. It’s a longer hike of 3,5 km with rugged paths and some steep sections. If you plan to hike it, make sure to wear sturdy shoes as it can be muddy and slippery.
Green Route (Teplice)
The blue route is the 6-kilometer-long hiking trail around the Teplice Rocks. It is marked with blue signs and takes you through the massive rock formations, labyrinths, and steep cliffs. It’s less crowded than Adršpach but just as impressive.
The trail features the Josef Vavroušek nature path with 15 info stops about the area’s history, geology, and climbing culture. Highlights include the Stone Crown rock tower, The Temple cavern, the ruins of Střmen Castle with great views, and quirky formations like The Polar Bear and The Sphinx. You’ll even pass through Siberia, a shady spot where snow can last into summer!
Adršpach-Teplice Rocks Entrance fee & Opening Hours

How to get there
The most convenient way to visit the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks is by car. From Prague, it is about a 2,5 to 3 hours. There’s paid parking available near both entrances, but it can fill up quickly during peak season, so arriving early is a good idea.
If you’re traveling by train, there’s a direct connection from Prague to Adršpach or Teplice (Teplice) nad Metuji Skaly with a transfer in Trutnov. Both train stations are just a short walk from the entrances.
Buses also run to the area, but connections can be less frequent, so be sure to check schedules in advance.
Another great option is joining a day trip from Prague, which usually includes transportation. As the Adršpach-Teplice National Park is located in the north of the Czech Republic, just 10 minutes from the southwestern border of Poland, it’s also easily accesibble for a day trip from Wrocław (Poland).
Tip: As we mentioned earlier, the Adršpach and Teplice Rock Towns are connected by the scenic Wolf Gorge (yellow route), allowing you to hike from one part to the other. However, it’s worth noting that the hike through the gorge covers quite a distance, so walking back to your starting point might not be ideal for everyone.
If you’d prefer not to hike back, you can take the train between Adršpach and Teplice. The train stops near both entrances, making it easy to explore both areas without worrying about the return journey. Just be sure to check the train schedule in advance, especially if you’re visiting outside the peak season.
Where to stay
Accommodation

The villages of Adršpach and Teplice nad Metují are the most convenient options, as they’re right by the entrances to the rock towns. You’ll find a mix of guesthouses, cozy hotels, and private rentals.
For a quieter stay, you can also look at nearby towns like Trutnov or Broumov, which are just a short drive away. Here, you find more dining options and other amenities while still being close enough for day trips to the rocks. As the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are one of the most popular places to visit in the Czech Republic, booking early is a good idea, especially during peak season in summer.
Camping
At both the entrance to the Adršpach Rocks and the Teplice Rocks, you’ll find several campsites where you can stay overnight with a camper. Given the high parking fees for campers, we highly recommend staying at one of these campsites and walking to the entrance.
Keep in mind that during the high season, campsites, especially those on the Adršpach side, can fill up quickly, so it’s a good idea to book your spot in advance. The campsites on the Teplice side are located a bit farther from the entrance, but they’re also less likely to sell out.

Best time to visit
The best time to visit the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks is during late spring, summer, or early autumn when the weather is mild and the trails are easily accessible. Spring and early summer are especially beautiful with green vegetation and fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months. September or early October can be a great option too, if you prefer to avoid the crowds.
Winter in Adršpach is also magical. The turns into a magical winter wonderland with a completely different atmosphere compared to the summer months. You can stroll through the snow-covered rock town, frozen waterfalls, and glittering icicles. Just be sure to dress warmly and check trail conditions in advance!

Tips for visiting the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks
Toilets
There aren’t any restrooms inside the rock towns. Therefore, it’s a good idea to use the toilets at the entrance of Adršpach-Teplice Rocks before heading into the park.
Bring food and drinks
As for food and drinks, there are a few small kiosks and cafés near the entrance where you can grab snacks or a meal. But if you plan to hike for a few hours, make sure to bring a bottle of water and some light snacks.
Respect nature
Don't litter in the park (nor somewhere else) and stay on the trails.
Save money
Tickets to Teplice are often cheaper during the high season compared to Adršpach. Parking is also more affordable, especially for campers.
If you're traveling on a budget, it's worth comparing prices and deciding which side, Adršpach or Teplice, you want to enter from, depending on the season and your mode of transport, at least if you fancy to walk the entire Wolf Gorge and want to visit both parts of the park. If the walk back feels too long, you can always hop on a train for a relaxed return trip!
Tickets to Teplice are not limited
If you didn't book your trip in advance and tickets to Adršpach are sold out, you can usually still get tickets to enter the park at Teplice as those are not limited and not linked to the ticket system of Adršpach. Just note that sold out tickets means it will be busy in Adršpach.
Skip the crowds
As Adršpach-Teplice is one of the most popular nature attractions in the Czech Republic, it can get quite busy. It's highly recommended to visit as early as possible in the morning. However, if you start from the Teplice side, keep in mind that the crowds might already be gathering at Adršpach by the time you arrive there after hiking through the gorge. Alternatively, you can avoid the crowds by visiting later in the afternoon. It's also worth noting that you can leave the park at any time, also after closing time. Just be aware that it gets dark quickly after sunset.
Visiting with camper
Because the parking fees for campers are particularly high, we highly recommend staying at one of the campsites near the entrances when your traveling with a campervan.
Drones are not allowed
Drones are not allowed in the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks, primarily to protect the nesting peregrine falcons that live in the area. The noise and movement of drones can disturb these sensitive birds, especially during breeding season, potentially causing them to abandon their nests. There are plenty of breathtaking spots and viewpoints to photograph from the ground!
