Bonjour and welcome to France.
This stunning country is the perfect place to enjoy some delicious food, taste the world’s best wines, visit cozy villages and so much more. It has a beautiful coastline, with gorgeous beaches and a super interesting culture. It is therefore no surprise that France is one of the most famous destinations in Europe.
In general, the best time to visit France is from April to September/October, when the weather is nice and pleasantly warm. France is a big country so there are some regional variations in temperatures: a Mediterranean climate in the south and wetter weather in the north.
During the peak summer months (June to August) you can expect large crowds of tourists and high season price rates. So if you like to go sightseeing in nice weather and avoid the crowds, we recommend you go there in April or May.
During the winter months, you can go skiing in the French Alps in the southeast of the country.
The official currency in France is the Euro (€) and you can pay by card almost anywhere. If not, you will find an ATM in every village where you can withdraw money.
The official language in France is French. English is not very widely spoken in France, only in the tourist areas.
Tap water is perfectly safe to drink in France.
France is a member of the European Union and Schengen Area, making it easy for travelers from other EU countries to visit without a visa.
Travelers from outside EU have to check if their country has a visa-free agreement with France for visa requirements.
Because France is part of the EU, you can enjoy the European roaming regulation. This means that if you come from another EU country, you do not need a different SIM card.
If you come from outside the EU, you must purchase a SIM. We recommend Jetpac's E-Sim!
In many public places such as restaurants and bars, you also have access to a local WiFi network.
