In this guide, you will find all the best campsites we have stayed at during our 2 week road trip, including their facilities, our personal opinion and things to do in the area.

Camping at Spitzkoppe Kommunity Rest Camp is world famous. To us and many other, it was by far the most beautiful campsite in Namibia. If you drive through Namibia with a roof tent, you should definitely spend a night in Spitzkoppe. There are 31 campsites, some of which are more secluded and others more grouped. 6. Hoada Campsite - Damaraland

Hoada Campsite is the perfect place to stay when exploring the north-west of Namibia. It is located between Grootberg and Etosha and an ideal stopover to break the ride. The area is home to some incredible wildlife. If you’re lucky, you might spot some desert elephants in the area of Hoada.

The camping is hidden among large grey granite boulders and trees, so each campsite offers a lot of privacy and tranquility. They are built in such a way that they completely blend in with the surroundings, minimizing the impact on the environment. 7. Halali Camp - Etosha

Halali Camp is one of the 6 rest camps in Etosha National Park, halfway between Okaukuejo and Namutoni. It is not a very luxurious or particularly beautiful campsite. However, what makes this camp so unique is the scenic waterhole where you can sit and spot wildlife 24/7, even when the gates to the national park are closed. It was our favorite rest camp in Etosha because of its beautiful waterhole.

8. Okaukuejo Rest Camp - Etosha

Okaukuejo camp is another camp in Etosha National Park. It also has a beautiful waterhole to sit at and watch the animals day and night. All other campsites in Etosha have a water hole too, but those at Okaukuejo and Halali are the most scenic ones with the best view. We also thought the facilities here were better than other camps we stayed at in Etosha.
