Slap Rinka, also known as Rinka Waterfall, is a beautiful 105-meter waterfall, located in the heart of the Logar Valley. The waterfall flows from the Rinka Stream, tumbling down a dramatic orange cliff into a deep pool below. The surrounding mountain views make this spot even more special and well worth a visit. Just a short 1,5-kilometer hike from the Logar Valley parking area brings you right to this natural beauty. In this guide, we tell you everything you need to know for your visit to Slap Rinka.

About Slap Rinka

Slap Rinka is a breathtaking waterfall located in the picturesque Logar Valley, close to the village of Solčava in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. With its impressive 105-meter drop, it is known as one of Slovenia’s highest waterfalls.

The waterfall cascades down a rugged orange cliff into a pool below, surrounded by the dramatic mountain scenery of the Logar Valley.

Walking to the Rinka Waterfall is straightforward via a well-maintained hiking trail and takes around 10 to 15 minutes, making it very easy to visit for almost everyone!

There’s a little bridge that crosses a small river right in front of the Rinka falls. From here, you get a clear, stunning view of the waterfall as it tumbles down the cliff, surrounded by the dramatic mountain scenery.

Right next to the waterfall, you find the Eagle’s Nest Bar, where you can enjoy a drink while admiring the view of Slap Rinka and the beautiful valley.

There's no entrance fee to Slap Rinka. However, from April to October, you have to pay a fee when entering the Logar Valley by car.

How to get there

The hike to Slap Rinka starts at the parking lot at Bar Pod Slapom, or Bar under the Waterfall. This parking lot can be reached by car or by foot.

At the parking follow the signs to Slap Rinka. After walking for 10 minutes on a wide path and rising 90 meters you arrive at Slap Rinka. There is a viewpoint building to the right, to the left you cross the riverbed of the Savinja via a wooden bridge where the path continues to the top of the waterfall.

By car

The easiest way to reach the parking lot for Slap Rinka is by car. From April to October, you have to pay a fee when entering Logarska Valley Regional Park by car.

From the entrance, it is a 10-minute drive to the car park. You will come across a few intersections, but you always have to stay right.

By foot

You can also choose to walk through the scenic Logar Valley all the way to Slap Rinka. From the entrance of the Logar Valley to the parking lot for Slap Rinka, it is a 7 km walk that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. From the parking lot, it’s an additional 15-20 minute walk to reach the waterfall.

Slap Rinka Hike

At the parking area, the trailhead starts across the road at Bar Pod Slap. From here, you follow the signs to Slap Rinka. It is a very clear and wide path, straightforward to the waterfall. After a 10-minute walk and a 90-meter ascent, you’ll reach the waterfall. To the right, you’ll find the Eagle’s Nest Bar. On the left, you find a wooden bridge over the Savinja Riverbed from where you have a clear view of the Rinka Waterfall. 

Note: You can also hike to the top of the Slap Rinka. To do this, you cross the wooden bridge and follow the uphill path. It is a short but quite steep path, with some great views along the way. For an even bigger challenge, you can turn it into a loop hike that will eventually bring you back to the parking lot.

Best time to visit

Time of the day

For a peaceful visit to Slap Rinka, we suggest going early in the morning. At this time, the trail is quieter, and the small parking lot is less likely to be full. The area tends to get busier as the day progresses.

If morning isn’t possible, late afternoon is also a good time to visit. However, try to avoid the peak midday hours to escape the crowds.

Season

The waterfall is particularly stunning during the spring and early summer when snowmelt increases the flow, creating a more powerful waterfall. The amount of water also increases in autumn due to increasing rainfall, making it also a great time to visit.

Where to stay near Slap Rinka

There are a few hotels in the Logarska Valley, or Logarska Dolina, where you can stay, including:

Alternatively, you also find a few hotels and guesthouses in the nearby area of the valley.

Note: Be careful when picking a hotel located south of Logar Valley. The valley is a dead-end road, blocked off by a massive mountain range on the south side, so it’s important to choose your hotel carefully. Make sure you don’t need to drive all the way around to travel between your hotel and the Logar Valley.

Camping

Unfortunately, it is not allowed to stay overnight in the Logarska Valley with your campervan and there are not many campsites in the area. You can stay overnight with your camper at the Ambroz-Gregorc Farm about 5 minutes drive from the Logar Valley. The nearest campsite is Avtokamp Smica which is located near Luce.

The Logar Valley is a beautiful valley surrounded by rugged mountains. If you visit Slap Rinka, make sure you have enough time to explore the entire valley. You can explore the valley along various hiking trails, drive the beautiful Solcava panorama road nearby, or cross the border into Austria and continue your journey there.
