Visiting Sekumpul Waterfall
The Sekumpul waterfall is an impressive waterfall in North Bali, which you can visit together with the Fiji and Hidden Waterfall during one trek. They are all close to each other, and there are a number of different ways to visit them.
These waterfalls are quite famous. However, as they are located high in the north, far away from the more touristy areas in the south, it is still relatively quiet and you should not expect too big crowds. The Sekumpul waterfall is the most famous of the three, but our favorite was the Fiji Waterfall.

You often read that you have to do a long trekking through the jungle to get to these waterfalls, but we thought it wasn’t too bad. Of course, your feet will get wet and the way back up is quite tiring. But at the bottom, the trekking from waterfall to waterfall is fairly flat. However, you have to be careful not to slide because it can be very slippery.
Tip: If you visit the Sekumpul waterfall, you should definitely consider going to the Lemukih waterslide. It is a natural waterslide, located on the plateau above these waterfalls. It is a super fun and unique off-the-beaten-path experience that you should not miss if you like anything adventurous.

Sekumpul Waterfall entrance fee
Although it is not really necessary, it is unfortunately no longer possible to visit the falls without a local guide. If you really want to, you can ask the guide not to come, but you will still pay the full amount. You must choose in advance which waterfalls you want to see and from where. You can choose from 3 options, which we explain in more detail below.
When you arrive at the official ticket booth, you get three options to visit the waterfalls. The Sekumpul Waterfall entrance fee depends on which option you choose.

The first, easiest, and cheapest option is to admire the Sekumpul waterfall and Fiji waterfall from the viewpoint. This saves you the entire walk to the foot of the waterfalls but still allows you to enjoy their beauty in this beautiful, lush green jungle environment.
Price: 20.000 IDR per person
The second option is medium trekking. During this trek, you hike down into the valley and visit the Sekumpul waterfall and the Hidden waterfall from below. This option does not include the Fiji Waterfall, which is just 10 minutes from Sekumpul Waterfall.
Price: 150.000 IDR per person
Duration: +/- 1hr-2hr
The third option is the long trekking. During this trek, you walk down and visit all 3 waterfalls up close.
Price: 250.000 IDR per person
Duration: +/- 2hr-3hr
The registration and guide scam
Because exploring the area with a guide is mandatory, the official guides at the entrance are not scammers. However, we have heard that you will encounter real scammers on the way to the official entrance of Sekumpul Waterfall. They put up roadblocks and will try to stop you, tell you to register, and charge you a ridiculous amount.
So, if you are on your own way to the Sekumpul waterfall, try not to let these men stop you and keep driving to the official parking and ticket booth. Never pay them the amount they charge!

We went very early in the morning, so luckily we didn’t encounter any scammers on the way there. However, even though the official ticket booth was not yet open, we were intercepted at the ticket checkpoint by an official guide (he showed us his badge) to collect our entrance fee. So, there’s no way to avoid it anymore.
How to get there
To get to the Sekumpul Waterfall, you can either rent a scooter, book a private car with a driver, or book a complete guided tour. The closest, more touristic area is Lovina, from where it is a 1-hour drive to reach the waterfalls.
If you opt for a full tour, you can be sure that you will avoid the whole situation with the scammers and that you are going with an official guide. Another option is to stay at Lemukih Village. The owners of the guesthouses there can often also guide you to the waterfalls.
There are multiple pins on Google Maps for the Sekumpul Waterfall, including some unofficial scammer entrance points. We parked our scooter here, we believe this is the official parking for Sekumpul Waterfall. This is where you find the official ticket booth, where you can buy your official tour package and start the waterfall hike.
Best time to visit
Season
You can visit the Sekumpul waterfall all year round. The most popular time to visit is during dry season from April to October. However, during the rainy season, the waterfalls are most powerful and spectacular. If you prefer to visit with more chance for better weather, fewer crowds, and still a very powerful waterfalls, then it’s best to visit at the beginning of dry season.
Time of the day
The best time to visit Sekumpul waterfall is before noon to visit with fewer people. The later in the day you arrive, the more people you can expect at the waterfalls. If you want to be almost certain that you have the waterfalls just for yourself, we recommend that you go as early in the morning as possible.

Is Sekumpul Waterfall worth visiting
The Sekumpul Waterfall is super beautiful and impressive, but unfortunately, the price is a serious downside. We believe that if you visit the north of Bali anyway, you should consider visiting the waterfalls.
If you decide to visit the Sekumpul waterfall, you have already made the effort to get there, and you are able (physically and financially) to do so, you should go for the long trek. The waterfalls are absolutely impressive, and the trek through the jungle is also beautiful and a bit adventurous.
However, we would not recommend coming here specifically for Sekumpul waterfall, given the high price and that there are many other beautiful, impressive waterfalls in Bali.
