About the Leke Leke Waterfall
The Leke Leke waterfall is located in the center of Bali, near the village of Nungnung in the Tabanan Regency. It is quite an impressive waterfall, with a height of around 50 meters, and known as one of the most powerful waterfalls in Bali.
During the rainy season, you will most likely get wet by the spray caused by this waterfall, so protect your belongings well.
Because of its more secluded location, Leke Leke waterfall tends to be a bit of a hidden gem. It is often less crowded than the more famous waterfalls closer to popular tourist areas like Ubud. However, it is gaining popularity due to its Instagram-worthy look!
At the bottom of Leke Leke waterfall is a shallow pool, perfect for wading. Unfortunately, this pool is not big enough for proper swimming.

The hike to Leke Leke waterfall
The entrance and ticket booth to the Leke Leke waterfall have been moved a bit from its previous entrance. It has become much more ‘official’ and accessible. When purchasing your entrance ticket, you will be offered a welcome drink. after which you can start your descent to the waterfall. The path is clear and consists of concrete steps, sandy parts, and some bamboo bridges. You walk through a beautiful jungle surrounded by tropical plants, especially the last part. Some sections can be slippery, especially during the rainy season, so be careful when descending. It is an easy walk down and in 10-15 minutes you will reach the mesmerizing Leke Leke waterfall. Due to the spray of the water, it can be muddy and slippery around the waterfall, so be careful not to slide.
On the way back up, the path splits and you have to take another way back up that goes past some Bali swings and eventually arrives back at the restaurant.
How to get to Leke Leke waterfall
To get to Leke Leke waterfall, you have a few different options. Renting a scooter is the cheapest and probably the fastest way. However, it is quite a long drive, so if you prefer a more comfortable ride, it’s better to hire a private car with a driver. Alternatively, you can book a complete day tour, including some other sights on the island as well.
Leke Leke waterfall is located halfway between Munduk or Singaraja and the more popular tourist area of Ubud. From either of these areas, it takes about 1h-1,5 h to reach Leke Leke Waterfall.
Tip: You can combine a visit to the Leke Leke waterfall with the Nungnung waterfall. This is another beautiful waterfall in a green canyon, located a 30-minute drive from the Leke Leke waterfall.
Where to Stay
Depending on what other things you plan to do and visit in Bali, you can either stay in Ubud or in Munduk. From both of these places, it is about a 1-hour to 1,5-hour drive to the Leke Leke waterfall.
In Ubud, you will find plenty of accommodations for every budget. There is also something for everyone in Munduk, although the choice here is slightly less extensive than in popular Ubud.
Ubud is more centrally located and is a great base to explore many other highlights of Bali. Munduk is a bit more untouched and tranquil, so it all depends on what you prefer!

Best time to visit
You can visit the Leke Leke waterfall all year round. However, during the rainy season, especially at the end of it, the waterfall is most powerful and spectacular. If you prefer to visit with more chance for better weather, then it’s best to visit at the beginning of dry season.
The best time to visit Leke Leke waterfall is before 10 am, before the day trippers arrive. If you want to be almost certain that you have the waterfall just for yourself and for great lighting, we recommend that you go as early in the morning as possible.
Know Before You Go
Protect your belongings
The spray from the waterfall can get your belongings wet. Be sure to bring something to protect your belongings against the water, especially for your electronic items such as cameras and cell phones.
Wear proper shoes
The path to Leke Leke waterfall can be slippery and rocky. We highly recommend you to wear appropriate footwear like closed shoes or sturdy sandals.
Bring some water and snacks
It can sometimes get quite warm in Bali. The hike is not very difficult, but we do recommend that you bring water and snacks. Especially if you plan to stay at the waterfall a little longer.
Bring bug spray
The Leke Leke Waterfall is located in the jungle. It is therefore best to bring some insect repellent spray.
Facilities
At the entrance to Leke Leke waterfall, you will find toilets and a restaurant. There are no facilities at the waterfall itself.
